Zoom in and the viewport starts to shimmer and tear apart — z-fighting, a "shattered" picture. It's worst on big scenes modeled in millimeters (city blocks, whole districts), where the viewport falls apart and becomes unusable. The cause: the depth buffer can't cover such a huge near-to-far range.

AdaptiveViewportClip — a crisp viewport at any zoom.

One toolbar button. Turn it on and the viewport's near/far clip planes adapt to whatever is in front of the camera:

— shimmer and tearing are gone at any zoom and any scene scale;
— close objects are never clipped — move right up to a part smaller than 0.1 mm and it stays on screen;
— no lag;
— works in perspective and in camera views;
— remembers its on/off state across restarts.

Just a button: grey = off, green = on. Viewport only — it doesn't affect your render.

Compatibility: 3ds Max 2024.2–2026. Install: drag the .mcr into a viewport.
