Akari Isamu Noguchi's light sculptures are considered icons of modern design in the 1950s. Designed by Noguchi in 1951 and handcrafted for half a century by the original manufacturer in Gifu, Japan, the paper lanterns represent a harmonious blend of Japanese craft and modernist forms.
The lamps are made of handmade washi paper and bamboo rib supported by a metal frame.
