Chair 03 is a minimalist chair created by Providence-based artist, designer, and researcher Samuel Aguirre. Made from natural and recycled materials, Chair 03 uses the chair as a vehicle to explore how material research and manufacturing can address pressing environmental issues, and uses traditional papermaking techniques to create its designs.
Based on his meticulous research and life cycle analysis of repurposed and bio-based materials, including cotton, hemp, paper pulp, and even oyster and mussel shells (for the outdoor seating), Aguirre has created an eco-friendly and sculptural piece of furniture.
