Easy PBR for 3ds Max (V-Ray Edition)
Easy PBR is an efficient MaxScript tool designed to automate and accelerate the creation of PBR (Physically Based Rendering) materials within the 3ds Max and V-Ray ecosystem. The script eliminates the tedious routine of manually assigning textures and adjusting gamma, enabling artists to create physically accurate shaders with a single click.

There are two versions in the archive. Installation info:

1. Easy_PBR_VRay_Portable.ms To run, simply drag and drop the file into the viewport. This is a portable version that does not require installation.

2. Easy_PBR_VRay_Setup.mcr To install, drag and drop the file into the viewport. Then go to Customize User Interface -> Toolbars -> Category: 3DPaz Tools and add it to your toolbar by creating a new button.

Key Features
1. Instant PBR Material Assembly
The tool allows you to load a full set of PBR textures via a user-friendly interface and instantly assemble a ready-to-use VRayMtl.

Comprehensive Map Support: Supports Base Color, Ambient Occlusion (AO), Roughness, Glossiness, Specular, Metalness, Normal Map, Opacity, and Displacement.

Automatic AO Mixing: The script automatically generates a Composite map, blending Base Color and AO (using Multiply mode), adding depth to the material without requiring extra manual steps.

2. Intelligent Gamma Management (LWF)
One of the main challenges in manual assembly is ensuring correct gamma. Easy PBR handles this automatically:

Color Maps: Color textures (Diffuse) are loaded with standard gamma.

Data Maps: Technical maps (Roughness, Metalness, Normal, Displacement) are forced to load with gamma:1.0 (Linear), preventing errors in reflection and surface relief calculations.

3. Shading Flexibility
Roughness vs. Glossiness: Option to force Roughness mode (essential for modern pipelines like Substance Painter) or use the classic Glossiness workflow.

Normal Mapping: Built-in option to invert the green channel (flip_green) to ensure correct compatibility with DirectX/OpenGL maps.

4. Geometry and Scene Interaction
Multi/Sub-Object Support: You can assign the material to a specific ID within a Multi/Sub-Object material. If the slot is empty, the script creates it; if occupied, it replaces it.

"REFRESH" Function: The script can not only create but also read a material already assigned to an object, populating the texture paths in the interface. This is ideal for quickly editing existing assets.

5. Additional Utilities
Buttons for quick file and scene management are built directly into the interface:

Import/Export FBX: Quick access buttons for data exchange without navigating the main menu.

Cleanup: Ability to remove the material from an object or clear all path fields with one click.

Workflow Example
Select an object in the scene.

Click the texture selection buttons (Base Color, Roughness, Normal, etc.) and browse for your files.

If necessary, check the "Apply to Multi/Sub-Object ID" box and specify the ID number.

Click "CREATE PBR MATERIAL".

Result: The object now has a correctly configured V-Ray material with all nodes linked and gamma settings correctly applied.

Technical Requirements & Compatibility
Platform: 3ds Max

Render Engine: V-Ray (utilizes standard VRayMtl and VRayNormalMap)

Version: 1.0.0 (Early Access)

Author: 3DPaz

Compatibility: Tested on 3ds Max 2016–2026
