Porcelain sculpture figurine of a chaffinch perched near a nest with chicks.
====================
Sculpture of a chaffinch sitting near a nest with chicks. This figure belongs to a series of similar sculptures depicting various species of European birds. At the base of the sculpture is a blue mark of the porcelain factory "Karl Ens," which has been used since the end of World War II to this day. The Karl Ens porcelain factory was founded in 1899. Before 1899, Karl Ens was a co-owner of the Triebner, Ens & Eckert porcelain factory in Rudolstadt. Until 1910, Karl Ens was the owner of the company, later his son Paul took over. In 1927, the owners were Edward and Herman Ens.
At that time, the factory employed 50 people. Luxury porcelain was produced: figurines, groups, vases, bowls. The artists were Ertor Boss and Arthur Stock. In 1959, the main shareholder of the factory was the government of the Federal Republic of Germany, and in 1972 the factory was nationalized and was called "ѴЕВ Unterglasurporzellanfabrik" (1972-1974), later "Betriebsteil 1 des ѴЕВ Sitzendorfer Porzellanmanufaktur" (1974-1990). The manufactory produced various figurines, gift statuettes, and other decorative porcelain products.
