Script Set.
InstantME
A script that allows you to create a copy of any number of geometric objects in Instance mode with a single click.
It can be applied to a group of objects, which can be copies, references of the original object, or have completely arbitrary geometry.
Zero Selector - finds objects with zero polygons in their geometry (dummy objects) and selects them.
Tested on 3ds Max 2024. Will likely work on older versions.
Using InstantME:
1. Left-click the master object from which the instance will be taken.
2. Left-click and hold Ctrl while selecting the object or group that will serve as the Instance copies.
3. Run the script using a button or hotkey.
4. PROFIT
Using the Zero Selector:
1. Run the script from a button or hotkey. The script searches for objects with zero polygons in their geometry. If any are present in the scene, they are selected, and the user then decides what to do with them.
If no such objects are present in the scene, a message is displayed indicating their absence.
2. PROFIT
Installation (using InstantME as an example):
1. Drag the InstantME.ms file into the window.
2. Go to Customize -> Customize User Interface -> Toolbars tab -> Category scroll - select kuki-tools. The Action column should contain the InstantME row.
3. Drag the InstantME row to an empty space in the toolbar, and the InstantME button will automatically be created.
Finish.
Assigning a hotkey (optional, using InstantME as an example):
For 3ds Max 2020 and later:
Go to the Customize menu -> Hotkey Editor -> Group scroll - select Main UI -> type InstantME in the search field (above the Action column). The line InstantME should appear in the Action column; select it.
Click the Hotkeys line and hold down the desired keys (for example, Ctrl+Shift+X).
Click Assign.
Click Done. In the pop-up window, click Save and save the .hsx file under any name.
