The Off-Grid Credenza was inspired by the distinctive checkerboard pattern and functional hinge of an interior door crafted in the late 19th century by an unknown Baoulé artist in what is now Côte d'Ivoire. Since the checkered pattern originated as early as 10,000 BC as a byproduct of the weaving process, we wanted to ensure our interpretation encompassed the history and references evoked by the image while simultaneously creating a functional piece of furniture for contemporary interiors.
