Layer Merge Tool is a 3ds Max utility for merging objects from another .MAX file directly into a layer of your current scene. Instead of merging objects first and manually moving them to the correct layer afterwards, you can select the objects and destination layer before starting merge.
How to Use
1. Select a Source File
Click Browse... and select the .MAX file you want to merge objects from. The tool will display the source file's layer and object structure in the left panel.
2. Select Objects
Use the checkboxes in the Source Layers / Objects panel. Check an individual object to merge it. Check a layer to select all objects in that layer. Select All selects every object. Select None clears the selection.
3. Select the Destination Layer
The Destination Layer panel on the right shows the layers in your current scene. Select the layer where you want the imported objects to be placed.
4. Merge
Click MERGE SELECTED.
The selected objects will be merged into your current scene and placed in the selected destination layer.
