Any spline becomes a magnetic track: your own modules spaced along it, and the channel cut into the ceiling for you.
Draw a line. The run follows it, the modules fill it, and the profile you picked is swept along it as real geometry.
WHAT YOU GET
- Your own models. Any light module you own goes into the graph. Nothing is hard-coded.
- Any spline. Straight, curved or closed - the run follows it.
- Surface or recessed. Hang the rail below the ceiling, or sink it flush and cut a channel for it.
- Spacing by count or by distance, filled end to end or spaced evenly.
- Mixed modules, in order or at random, with slots that grow as you add.
- A real cross-section. The Profile node sweeps the actual section of any object you point it at, instead of a stand-in box.
- Real boolean cut for the channel, with a restore.
- Corona and V-Ray. CoronaSlicerMtl or VRayClipper, both in include mode, so only the ceiling is ever sliced.
HOW IT WORKS
Path, Ceiling, Light Module and Profile nodes feed a Light System node, and that node holds the spacing, the order and the channel settings.
One click on the ceiling sets the seating height the run sits at. One click fills the run. Change the count, the spacing or the spline and it rebuilds.
REQUIREMENTS
3ds Max 2018 - 2026. The live channel preview needs Corona 10 or newer, or V-Ray. Cutting the real channel works without either.
INSTALL
Drag LightSystem_Setup.mzp into a 3ds Max viewport. It loads on every Max start after that. A readme and a clean uninstaller are in the archive.
