The Colani Loop Chair, cast from a single body, combined the idea of a plastic chair with legs and that of a cantilever chair, and was perhaps the most complex plastic chair to make at the time. The bubble-shaped seat bowl balances on a single leg that extends into a footrest. Despite the technical challenge, the loop movement created an object of great elegance and rhythm. Luigi Colani comments on his Poly-COR: "The most complex chair made to date. The bold loop is made using polyester injection technology." Constructions of this type, in which technology was pushed to its limits, are linked to the euphoria of the future of the time and the belief in the limitless possibilities of the space age.
