MaxLauncher: launching and protecting 3ds Max settings

You have installed 3ds Max, configured all plugins, scripts, and the interface, and everything works as it should. This moment needs to be preserved. MaxLauncher creates a standard backup of your working settings. If Max crashes after a faulty plugin, an update, or an emergency shutdown, the program will restore the standard. Max will be back in working condition, with all plugins and scripts.

How it works

Install and configure 3ds Max, make sure it launches and operates without issues.
Close Max and click "Create Standard" next to the desired version.
If Max has crashed, click "Restore Standard." The settings folder (ENU) will be replaced with a working copy, while the standard itself will remain.

Features

Support for multiple versions of 3ds Max simultaneously. Each version has its own standard.
Automatic backup of settings after each proper closure of Max.
If the last session ended unexpectedly, the next time you launch the launcher, it will offer to restore the settings.
Proper closure of Max from the launcher. Forced termination is left as a last resort.
Automatic crash report: minidump analysis, Windows log, Max log, plugin list. The report shows which module caused the crash.
Dark interface, language switch English / Русский.

Launching Max through the launcher is not mandatory. If Max has crashed, you can run MaxLauncher at any time, even when Max is already closed, and restore the standard. The launcher will automatically find the installed versions. Only Windows with PowerShell is required to run it; nothing needs to be installed.

Tip: update the standard every time you install a new plugin or script and ensure that Max works with it.

Installation

Unpack the archive and place the MaxLauncher folder anywhere, for example, C:\MaxLauncher or on another drive. No installation is needed.
Run MaxLauncher.bat. At the first launch, the launcher will automatically find the installed versions of 3ds Max. If a version is not in the list, click "Find Automatically" or "+ Add 3dsmax.exe...".
A desktop shortcut can be created in two ways:
run Create_Shortcut.bat: it will automatically create a shortcut with a warning icon on the desktop and in the launcher folder;
or manually: right-click on MaxLauncher.bat → "Send to" → "Desktop (create shortcut)".
The default language is English. You can switch to Russian using the RU button in the upper right corner.

Important

Do not move the folder after creating the shortcut. If you have moved it, run Create_Shortcut.bat again.
It is better to keep the folder where you have write permissions. The launcher creates backups and logs folders next to it.
If the launcher does not open, run MaxLauncher_debug.bat: the window will remain open and show the error.
