Hasmat Color Selector v1.4 for 3ds Max
AI-generated image-to-3D models often arrive as a single mesh with one texture, making it difficult to select individual surface areas for editing.
This script selects polygons with matching texture colors. Load the base-color image, select one sample polygon, and select matching faces together. You can then edit the selection, detach parts, or assign new materials.
Features:
• Select by texture color or vertex color
• Adjustable color tolerance
• Adjustable matching-sample percentage
• Add to the current selection
• Reset settings and clear selection
• Undo polygon selection changes
• No Material IDs required
Texture workflow:
1. Select an Editable Poly object with no modifiers.
2. Load its base-color/diffuse texture image.
3. Select one polygon and click “Pick from ONE selected polygon.”
4. Click “SELECT MATCHING POLYGONS.”
Installation:
Run the included .MZP through Scripting > Run Script.
Open Customize > Customize User Interface > Toolbars.
Choose category “Hasmat” and drag “HasmatColorSelector” onto a toolbar.
Requirements and limitations:
Uses existing UV mapping. Texture matching samples image colors; it does not identify materials semantically or apply new textures automatically. Procedural maps, UDIMs, and material-map tiling/offset/rotation transforms are not evaluated.
Includes the installer and installation guide.
Chair illustrations demonstrate the workflow; chair models are not included.
