Van - covered wagon with a round roof. American settlers moved to the Wild West in wagons pulled by oxen normally. Van, who became a symbol of the development of the West, was a real home, hiding in a long journey from the rain and snow from the arrows of the Indians. In one wagon could travel a family of five. Crossing the Great Plains, settlers traveled in caravans of many wagons. Lorries affectionately called "prairie schooners" as white tarpaulin, which they were covered, reminding sails.
