Miguel Rivera is a 12-year-old boy who dreams of becoming a musician. Unfortunately, his dream is not at all combined with a family ban on music, and all relatives, especially the domineering Babulita, predict his shoe craft. In a desperate attempt to defend their right to engage in music, Miguel accidentally turns out to be cursed and enters the afterlife, where he is searching for his idol and the supposed ancestor - Ernesto de la Cruz - to receive his blessing.
