The aesthetic of "honesty" regarding the materials and construction of an object is one of the features that is distinctive of Scandinavian modernism. It is clearly visible, for example, in the design of the Drawn chair, invented by the Danish bureau Hvidt & Mølgaard in 1956 and recently re-released by the &Tradition brand. The chair's strong and stable frame is assembled from turned wooden elements, and the dynamic shape of the back emphasizes the elegance of the object. Drawn is an improved version of the traditional chair with a woven twine seat. The creators of the chair, Peter Hvidt and Orla Molgard Nielsen, designed two models of the chair: a compact basic one and a wider one with armrests. &Tradition makes them in light oak and chocolate brown walnut.
