A1viz light & camera detach

Detach. Organize. Done.

Imagine: a large scene, dozens of groups, lights inside models, cameras mixed with geometry. This is especially familiar if someone else assembled the scene, and now you need to figure it out and reconfigure the lighting.

A1viz light & camera detach helps quickly organize things: it extracts cameras, light sources, and objects with glowing materials from groups and moves them to separate layers. It can also separate splines, helper objects, and proxies.

After this, working in a separate layer and reconfiguring the scene (e.g., lighting) becomes significantly easier than searching for and ungrouping objects manually. Less time spent sorting the scene means more time for visualization itself.

Distribution of objects by layers

Cameras → _Cameras
Moves cameras along with their Target objects.

Lights → _Lights
Moves light sources along with their Target objects.

Light Mtl → _Light Materials
Finds objects with assigned CoronaLightMtl or VRayLightMtl. It also checks nested materials, including Multi/Sub-Object and composite materials.

Splines → _Splines
Moves splines and other objects of the Shape category.

Helpers → _Helpers
Moves helper objects. Target objects remain with their cameras and light sources.

Proxy → _proxy
Moves Corona Proxy and V-Ray Proxy, including objects with modifiers.

The script opens the necessary groups, including nested ones, performs Group Detach for the found objects, moves them to the appropriate layer, and closes the remaining groups. Other objects are kept in their groups.

Cameras and light sources are moved along with their corresponding Target objects, maintaining the connection with them.

Three search areas:

Entire scene - search throughout the entire scene, including hidden and frozen objects.

Layer 0 - search only among objects in layer 0.

Active layer - search in the currently active layer, which is determined when the button is pressed.

When searching in a separate layer, only the objects directly in that layer are considered, without child layers. Target objects of found cameras and light sources are moved along with them, even if they are in another layer.

Important: the Light Mtl button specifically searches for CoronaLightMtl and VRayLightMtl, including their presence in nested materials. Self-illumination of regular materials through Self-Illumination does not fall into this category.

Launch: .ms file through Scripting → Run Script in 3ds Max.
