Castle stone (sometimes just a castle) is a wedge-shaped or pyramidal masonry element in the top of a vault or arch. Often protrudes from the plane of the arch, is distinguished by its dimensions, has ornamental or sculptural processing, thus obtaining a decorative function, serves as a decoration for arches and even flat bridges.
