A traditional element of Islamic architecture.
In the scene: Basic units closed is easier to model unique shapes, invisible faces are not removed, there are more polygons in the final object.
Basic units with removed invisible faces + the most common combinations of units (Basic units opened) are more difficult to model unique shapes, invisible faces are removed, there are fewer polygons in the final object.
