Description
RGB_DiffuseColorFromName is a tool for 3ds Max that automatically detects a color from a material name and assigns it to the material's main color slot (Diffuse / Base Color).
RAL Classic, RAL Design, HEX and HTML color name libraries are supported.
The color is extracted from the material name (priority from top to bottom):
RAL Design
Examples:
RAL 090 80 10
Paint_RAL0908010
Classic RAL
Examples:
RAL9010, RAL_7024, Color RAL-9005
HEX colors
Formats: RRGGBB or #RRGGBB
Examples:
#FFA07A, Concrete_FFA07A, Metal_#A9A9A9
HTML color names
Examples:
Gainsboro, MistyRose, IndianRed
The color is always assigned to the base color of the material:
Diffuse / Base Color - depending on the type of material.
If a color map is already connected to the same slot, its color is also synchronized.
Supported cards (in any combination with materials):
- CoronaColor
- VRayColor / VrayColor
Important behavior
If the color of the material already matches, but the color of the card is different -
the map will still be updated.
New maps are not created automatically.
The tool only works with already connected cards.
The map name is not used for color analysis -
The color is always determined only by the name of the material.
The script adapts to different gamuts and color spaces (1.0/2.2/linearRaw/scene-linear Rec.709-sRGB/sRGB) and also works with 2 types of picker - default and Corona picker (linear/sRGB)
Supported materials:
- CoronaMtl / CoronaLegacyMtl
- CoronaPhysicalMtl / _CoronaPhysicalMtl
- VRayMtl / VrayMtl
- Standard / Standardmaterial
- Physical Material (3ds Max)
Sources of materials:
- Selected materials in the Slate Material Editor
- If nothing is selected in SME - materials of the selected scene objects.
